Mercy Chefs was founded in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. Its founder Gary LeBlanc grew up in New Orleans and personally knew dozens affected by the most catastrophic storm in American history. For the 20th anniversary of Katrina, Mercy Chefs wanted to share a documentary that memorialized the gravity of the storm and the spark of hope it ignited.
After gathering Gary’s stories and identifying the most meaningful locations in New Orleans, I coordinated a strategic three-day shoot.
Working with a talented cinematographer, I directed a video shoot that included aerial videography, car-mounted camera rigs, and various visuals that aligned with Gary’s narrative.
This documentary’s impact can only be described with Gary’s own words to our production team after he watched the video:
“Thank you for catching the essence of this story. Thank you for your sensitivity to the gravity of my call. Thank you for making something that people can see exactly what happened 20 years ago and what now continues. The quality of the work is overwhelmingly first class and beautiful. The quality of your hearts is humbling. Thank you for joining me on this journey. Well done. Very well done.”
Next projects.
